As Britain's second city, Birmingham has everything you could possibly wish for. The City's proud industrial past as the engine room of the Industrial Revolution has evolved into a stylish new vibrant City with an abundance of everything one would expect from a City with a population of 1 million.
Although Coventry is the birth place of St George, Patron Saint of England, it is most famous for its Cathedrals. Designed by Sir Basil Spence and voted the nation's favourite 20th century building, the modern Church of St Michael sits majestically next to the 'blitzed' ruins of it's 14th century predecessor.
The area of the West Midlands to the West of Birmingham is known over the world as 'The Black Country'. The area has a population of 1 million and is very much the product of its unique industrial heritage and this can be seen by the abundance of unique attractions. In addition to works by Monet and Van Gogh that hang in the local Art Galleries, there is the world's best crystal and glassware. The Pop Art Gallery in Wolverhampton will suprise and delight, as will the range of historic houses exhibiting William Morris interiors. There is an abundance of nature and countryside throughout the Black Country and yet more stunning countryside on the doorstep. Despite it's proud and enormously influencial industrial heritage the Black Country is a surprisingly peaceful haven for walkers and much of our countryside can be seen from the canals. The area, famous for real ale production to guarantee the visitor a 'bostin' time, also has a number of legendary local dishes that visitors are recommended to try.
